Thunderbolts In Our Mind
Giganticlightning
bolts
and the
loud
wallops
of thunder
in the
sky
used
to
put
the fear
of God
into
me,
I ran
to
my
mother,
like I
had just
seen
a
spook
in
my
closet,
crying
out
in
terror,
and
now
four
decades
later,
I have
learned
that
there
are things
that we
are afraid
of that
are
just
like
flashes
and loud
booms
in the
night
sky,
television
and the
fear
that
pours
out
of it
can
really
suck
out
every last
dreg of
Joy,
no longer
able to
sip
on the
bitter
thick
smoothie
of
terror,
nasty
as
durian
fruit
to
the
soul,
the
horrifying
voice
from
the pundits'
soap
box
and
the
alarmists
of
Conspiracy
can
make
you
feel
like
frog
in
front
of
a
mower,
So I
must
tell you
focus
on the
things
that
flood
your
heart
with
joy
and
make
you
laugh,
enjoy
each
day
until
you
really
need
to
have
fear
for when
that
day
comes
you will
not be
as afraid
and it
won't be
as bad
as you
thought
